Dr. Pelkey joined Alamance Ear Nose and Throat as the Director of Audiology in March of 2002. She is a North Carolina native, born and raised in Durham. Dr. Pelkey became interested in Audiology after working with profoundly hearing impaired children at the Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf during her freshman year at Barton College. This interest prompted her to transfer to UNC-G where she received both her undergraduate and master's degrees. As the field of Audiology transitioned to a doctoral level profession, she returned to school and received her Doctor of Audiology degree in 2000 from the University of Florida.

 

Dr. Pelkey enjoys working with all age groups, from infants to older adults. She is especially interested in the vestibular system, the rehabilitation of balance disorders and advances in digital hearing aid technology.

 

Dr. Pelkey enjoys public speaking, and has been an invited presenter at The North Carolina Speech Language and Hearing Association Conference, The Village at Brookwood, Burlington Day School, The Senior Center, Sertoma Club and other area organizations.

 

In her free time, Dr. Pelkey loves parenting her two growing boys, Jonathan and Robert. When she is not caravanning her children to sporting events, Dr. Pelkey likes to play bridge and is learning to crochet.
